Serving our Community
Serving Our Community
Compass Church believes that love for God should produce love for our neighbors. Because the gospel changes the way we see people, possessions, and responsibility, we want to use the resources God has entrusted to us for his glory and for the good of those around us.
That means looking for practical ways to serve, meeting genuine needs when we can, supporting organizations that are doing good work in our community, and seeking to reflect the compassion and justice of Christ.
Here are some of the ways we currently seek to serve the Greater Mason and Lansing communities.
Mason Food Bank
Each year, from Thanksgiving through Christmas, Compass Church collects food and financial gifts to help stock the Mason Food Bank.
The food bank serves individuals and families in the Mason area who are experiencing temporary financial hardship by providing food, healthcare products, household items, and toiletries.
Through this annual effort, we have an opportunity to meet a practical local need and support an organization that serves our neighbors throughout the year.
SP Women’s Center
Compass Church believes that every human life is precious because every person is made in the image of God.
For that reason, we support SP Women’s Center as they care for women, men, and families facing unexpected pregnancies and other challenges surrounding pregnancy and parenting.
SP Women’s Center provides free assistance that may include:
- pregnancy testing and options counseling
- ultrasounds
- information about abortion
- abortion recovery support
- adoption information
- parenting support
- childbirth class referrals
- assistance with practical needs such as diapers and formula
We are grateful for organizations that combine practical help, compassionate care, and spiritual support for families during vulnerable and important seasons of life.
Christian Services
Needs within the Greater Lansing community can be financial, relational, practical, or spiritual. Individual churches cannot meet every need on their own, so cooperation matters.
Christian Services helps connect churches throughout the area so that they can serve people more wisely and effectively.
They assist local churches by:
- helping church leaders identify opportunities to serve
- connecting churches with individuals and families who have genuine needs
- helping coordinate ministries and community resources
- reducing unnecessary duplication of services
- helping churches use benevolence resources responsibly
- connecting churches with other ministries and organizations
- advocating for the role of local churches in meeting community needs
We are thankful for opportunities to work alongside other believers and organizations as we seek to love our neighbors faithfully and make the compassion of Christ visible in our community.
