How is the Gospel restore-ing Compass Church?
The Compass Church Story
The Compass Church began to take shape as a church-plant in 2017. A core group of believers felt compelled to start a new work in the Greater Lansing community that would combine faithful Biblical exposition (learning and enjoying the Bible line by line and verse by verse), compassionate community care (leveraging our lives for the broken, forgotten, and oppressed), and spiritual transformation (uncovering and applying the Bible through meaningful relationships). The hope was that the Compass Church would become a place where…
- those experiencing doubts about faith in Jesus could process their questions without fear of judgment
- those struggling with the pain and trauma of abuse could heal and gain new hope
- those desiring in-depth preaching and teaching could apply the Bible in everyday life situations with confidence and joy
- those wanting to see the church make a noticeable difference in their community could join in intentional efforts to meet needs and selflessly care
Shortly after this vision began to form, Small-group Bible studies, worship times, and prayerful meetings were held and a decision was made to plant a church on June 17, 2017 and call Pastor Bryan as Lead pastor. In the months that followed a Launch Team was formed, a number of outreaches to the community were launched, Pastor Dave joined the staff, and a vision began to take shape. This culminated in the decision to officially incorporate as a church, draft Bylaws and a Constitution, and apply for Federal and State statuses.
As you are reading this, the Compass Church is prayerfully seeking a permanent home in the Mason community. Currently we meet on Saturday nights @ 6 PM at the campus of Columbia Road Baptist Church, 5000 W. Columbia Road in Mason. We would appreciate your prayers. If you do not have a place where you regularly worship or you do not know what Christianity is all about, please visit with us on a Saturday night to see what following Jesus is all about. Or visit our Facebook page to request more information.
Additionally, if you are a believer and wish to join in on the ground floor of an exciting Kingdom adventure, we would invite you to join us some Saturday night to hear the Bible preached and to sing praises to our Lord Jesus Christ.
We know that not everyone will be called to this startup effort, but we are trusting that the Lord will call some to join us in reaching the Mason community for Christ.
