How is the Gospel restore-ing Compass Church?

The Compass Church Story

Compass Church began to take shape as a church plant in 2017. A core group of believers shared a desire to establish a church in the Mason area that would be grounded in faithful biblical exposition, meaningful Christian community, and a clear commitment to making disciples of Jesus Christ.

From the beginning, the aim was to be a church where people could know Christ more deeply, grow in confidence in the gospel, and learn to live faithfully in response to God’s Word. We wanted Scripture to be taught carefully and applied seriously, questions to be welcomed honestly, relationships to be marked by grace and truth, and believers to be equipped to serve one another and the wider community.

We also wanted Compass Church to be a congregation that looked outward. That meant caring for people in times of need, serving our neighbors, pursuing opportunities to do good, and seeking to make a visible difference in the community for the glory of God.

After a season of small-group Bible studies, worship gatherings, and prayer, the decision was made to plant Compass Church on June 17, 2017. A launch team formed, community outreach efforts began, and regular worship services followed.

Our first regular services were held in the cafeteria at the elementary school in Mason. In time, another local church graciously opened its building to us during hours when they were not meeting. That arrangement became our church home for several years and allowed Compass to continue worshiping, growing, and serving while we waited on the Lord’s provision for a permanent location.

Through the years, God has sustained Compass Church through seasons of change, difficulty, growth, and uncertainty. He has provided faithful people, opportunities to serve, and the resources needed to continue the work he called us to do.

In 2026, the Lord provided Compass Church with a permanent home at 1030 W. South St. in Mason. We are deeply grateful for that gift, but we also recognize that a building is not the church. It is a tool—a place from which we can worship, teach the Scriptures, build relationships, serve our neighbors, and carry out the mission Christ has entrusted to his people.

Today, Compass Church continues to gather for worship, grow together through the teaching of Scripture, care for one another, and serve the Greater Mason community. We remain committed to the same central calling that shaped the church from the beginning: to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ.

If you do not have a church home, or if you are trying to understand what Christianity is all about, we would be glad to have you worship with us. You are welcome to come, hear the Bible taught, meet the people of Compass Church, and learn more about what it means to follow Jesus.

We meet Sunday mornings at 10 AM at 1030 W. South St., Mason, MI 48854.
